The Ultimate Guide to Eyelash Lifts: Everything You Need to Know
What Is an Eyelash Lift?
An eyelash lift, also known as a lash lift, is a semi-permanent treatment that enhances your natural lashes by lifting, separating, and curling them upward from the root. Unlike lash extensions, which add synthetic lashes, a lash lift works entirely with your own natural lashes. During the treatment, custom-sized silicone rods or shields are selected based on your lash length and desired result. A lifting solution is applied to gently reshape the lashes, followed by a setting solution that locks them in their new position. The result is beautifully lifted lashes and a brighter, more open-eyed appearance that lasts approximately 6–8 weeks.
Unlike an eyelash curler, which provides temporary results that often fall throughout the day, a lash lift keeps your lashes lifted 24/7 without daily effort. It also reduces the need for waterproof mascara and eliminates the maintenance, fills, adhesives, and added weight associated with lash extensions. Because your eyelashes naturally grow, rest, and shed in a continuous cycle, new lashes will gradually grow in while lifted lashes naturally shed, causing the results to soften over time rather than disappear all at once. This makes a lash lift a low-maintenance, natural-looking enhancement for those seeking effortless, everyday beauty.
Every eyelash contains structural bonds that help determine its natural shape. During a lash lift, a lifting solution temporarily softens these bonds, allowing the lashes to be repositioned around a silicone rod or shield. A setting solution is then applied to lock the lashes into their new shape. Your eyelashes are constantly moving through a natural growth cycle of growing, resting, and shedding. A lash lift enhances the lashes you have at the time of your appointment, but new lashes will continue to grow in their natural direction. As a result, the lift softens over time rather than disappearing all at once.
Most clients enjoy their results for 6–8 weeks, though this can vary based on individual lash growth cycles, aftercare, and lifestyle. Because each lash is at a different stage of growth, your lashes naturally maintain fullness while continuously renewing themselves throughout the year.
How does it work?
What are the steps in a lash lift?
Our Lash Lift system uses Cysteamine HCl instead of Thioglycolate, making it a safer and gentler alternative, with no ammonia. Cysteamine-based lash solutions reshape the lashes without damaging or drying them out, preserving their strength and elasticity. The formula minimizes the risk of over-processing, leaving lashes healthy and naturally lifted with long-lasting results.
Duration: 15-20 minutes
I lift your lashes onto a silicone rod or shield, redirecting the hair up and separating them. Step One is then applied, which is a gentle perming solution that softens the lashes, allowing them to mold into the shape of the rod or shield.
Duration: 10-15 mins
I then clean and re-separate the lashes, then apply Step Two, a setting solution mixed with keratin, to lock them into their new lifted shape. This step ensures the lift maintains its structure.
Duration: 10 mins
After I remove Step Two, I will clean your eyelashes and apply the black eyelash tint. You can choose a classic black tint or a softer purple-black tint, perfect for lighter eyes.
Duration: 10-15 minutes
I will then remove the tint, wash your eyes and lashes, and then brush them. I finally top it all off with the Hyaluronic Boost Serum, which helps condition and strengthen hair while improving softness, elasticity, and shine.
Benefits of a lash lift
-
Perfect for lashes that naturally grow straight, downward, or become hidden beneath the eyelid. A lash lift enhances your natural lashes from the root, creating a brighter, more awake appearance without extensions or daily curling.
-
A lash lift enhances what you already have rather than adding artificial lashes. The result is a soft, effortless look that complements your natural features while maintaining the health and integrity of your own lashes.
-
A lash lift helps reveal the full length of your natural lashes by lifting them upward rather than outward. While it doesn't make your lashes physically longer, it often creates the appearance of significantly increased length.
-
Ideal for clients who want their lashes to stand out without relying on heavy eye makeup. A lash lift creates more separation, visibility, and structure, making each lash easier to see and appreciate.
-
Ideal for lashes that struggle to hold a curl with traditional eyelash curlers. A lash lift creates a long-lasting curl that remains in place day and night, regardless of humidity, workouts, or daily activities.
-
Many clients find they can skip mascara altogether after a lash lift because their lashes already appear darker, longer, and more visible. For those who still enjoy mascara, it often applies more evenly and dramatically to lifted lashes.
-
Small enhancements can make a noticeable impact on how you feel each day. A lash lift helps frame the eyes, create a more refreshed appearance, and boost confidence while still looking completely natural.
-
A lash lift can help reduce the need for daily eyelash curling, which may minimize unnecessary pulling and stress on the lashes. By relying less on mechanical curling, some clients find their natural lashes remain healthier and experience less breakage over time.
I take several factors into account when lifting and shaping your eyelashes. With 4 different sizes and 3 different shapes, your lashes will look beautifully lifted and longer on your face. If you already have a vision, just let me know; if you don’t know what you’re looking for, we can decide together.
What is the Korean Lash Lift and why is it worth it?
The Korean Lash Lift, originating in South Korea, is an advanced, highly customized lash-lifting technique designed to create uniform, more lifted, and more polished results while prioritizing the health of your natural lashes. Unlike a traditional lash lift, which focuses primarily on creating curl, a Korean Lash Lift places significant emphasis on precise lash placement and separation near the base of your lashes to ensure the lashes lift evenly from the root, creating a beautifully lifted and eye-opening appearance.
The result is lashes that appear noticeably more lifted, longer, and beautifully fanned out with less crossing, twisting, or clumping. Because the lashes are meticulously separated and positioned during the service, the final look is often softer, more refined, and more open-eyed than a standard lash lift.
Benefits of a Korean Lash Lift:
More lifted and defined results
Superior lash separation and alignment
Reduced crossing, twisting, and crisscrossing of lashes
A softer, fluffier, more uniform appearance
Enhanced lash health and flexibility
A brighter, more open-eyed look
Beautiful grow-out with the natural lash cycle
Proper lash separation is one of the biggest factors affecting the final result of a lash lift. When lashes are carefully isolated and aligned, they lift more uniformly, appear fuller, and create a cleaner lash line. Poor separation can lead to crossed lashes, inconsistent lift, and a less polished appearance. If you've had a lash lift before and felt the results could have been more lifted, more uniform, or more polished, a Korean Lash Lift may be the upgrade you're looking for.

A typical lash lift lasts between 6 to 8 weeks, and the Korean lash lift is consistent with a traditional lash lift.

Anyone who cares about their eyelashes is a good candidate. A common misconception is that you might not have enough length for a lash lift, but there is a size for every length of lash! I have never had anyone regret the service and it changes the way you see your lashes and how they frame your eyes. Everyone benefits from this service, and it is worth every penny.

Depending on where you are getting your service, the salon or lash tech may include it in a package. When you book with BrowsbyKunti, a keratin treatment and a lash tint are included with your service. Learn more about the tint and the keratin here.

Although some people choose to try it, I never recommend it until a year after pregnancy.
